Marcellus and Nannie had 6 boys and 3 girls. Their first child, James Clark, was born December 2, 1895, and died in 1959. Eight other children were born: Mary, (1897-1931); Marcellus Jr. (Junius), (1899-1973); William, (1901-?); Bessie Aretha, (1902-1956), Viola (1904-1906) died in infancy; Fleming, (1907-1966); Richard, (1908-1955); and Thomas (1911-1997). After a lingering illness, Marcellus lost his beloved Nannie in 1917 when their youngest child, Thomas, was only five.
